VENIN forms in 1982 in Marseille, France. The line-up includes Jean-Marc Battini (vocals, guitar) , Fabienne Battini (bass), Patrick Ziad (guitar) and Patrick Labriola (drums). The band had already started in 1978 under the name INFLATION before changing to VENIN. 1985 sees the band touring a lot across France, at the Fête de l'Humanité, in Sisteron with a band called STORM, in Marseille at the Villiers stadium and at the Moulin with TOKYO BLADE, at the Printemps de Bourges in 1987, just to name a few. After a week in the Cactus studio, the band releases a 4-track 12'' in 1986 (reissued on Cameleon Records in 2014). The band splits soon after, mainly upon Jean-Marc's decision not to carry on writing songs and touring. Jean-Marc forms a new band called DEMAIN with his old band mates except for Patrick Ziad (who will play with BLASTEAD in 1991), but nothing is recorded. He later plays bass in BLIZZARD whose guitar player is Michel Salvabella. A lot of shows follow in the next two years, one of them at the Arènes Antiques in Orange, but again no recordings. In 1993, Jean-Marc joins SILENCE (previously SYNTHESE / SULTAN'S SEED) who are supposed to enter the studio after a battle of the bands, but it will never occur. In 2000, Jean-Marc joins forces with MARECAGE drummer and MARECAGE guitar player, and keeps on playing and writing songs with the project of entering the studio by the end of the year. In 2015, the Memoire Neuve label releases for the first time on vinyl the 7-track VENIN demo recorded in 1984. This CD includes their 1984 demo and their 1986 12'', 11 tracks total. VENIN are back together again and have played their first reunion show in Entressen on September 19, 2015. They plan to record a new album in 2016...
